Ch..Ch..Ch..Change

Hello readers! Sorry for a little hiatus. I enjoyed some time being completely unemployed and just recently started a new job! Adventurous Lex booked a short trip to Denver, CO with Manmeat to visit her aunt before she moves from there. I AM PUMPED with a capital P. In the short time I’ve been away there’s been some changes and that’s where my thoughts are today: change.

Whether it’s a change in your hair color, a change in a relationship, a change in the arrangement of your furniture, or a change in your: routine it is a lot to handle.

It can be terrifying.

It can be exciting.

It can be nauseating.

But it’s something we all go through.

When it comes to my opinion on change I fear it most of the time. Like when things seem to be going perfect and I have that little Lex in my head saying “Ooooooh be careful because you know this will change soon” and then I’m like “SHIT YOU’RE RIGHT” and I fear what could change. Maybe that has to do with anxiety but I think everyone can relate that there are just some moments or spans of time that you wish you could freeze so that it all stays the same.

I am also 100% a creature of habit in certain things. For instance I’ve had oatmeal with a scoop of peanut butter, a banana, and a dash of cinnamon with a cup of green tea probably 300/365 mornings since my junior year of high school (which was 7 years ago *gag*). Those other 65 days are reserved for when I’m A) hungover and need chicken nugs B) Manmeat and I make an extravagant brekkie or C) Mornings at the diner or another restaurant with friends and family.

Some things should just be left as they are and should definitely not be changed.

On the flip side- it also excites me and sometimes I force things to change around me.

Before I switched my bedroom from upstairs to the downstairs (Thanks Mom&Jon ;)) I legitimately would rearrange my room at least once a year. I’m talking about flipping my bed to another side of a room and the whole shebang. The room I’m in now doesn’t allow me to change it much and I’ve only switched it around 3 times. (only)

I just loved that feeling of having a different room. Once the newness wore off after a year or two I’d switch it again. It’s so strange but it was always such a cool feeling. (God bless the man that lives with me and marries me and has to switch our house around constantly.)

Another thing that everyone who knows me knows I change is my hairs. There was also a phase in my life that I would actually change my hair with the change of seasons. My hair stylist probably hates me for it but I love her for allowing me to always reinvent myself. I’ve had pretty much every natural color you could thing of. Super blonde highlights taking over my head, jet black, red (yikes), purple, and my au naturel brown. I’ve finally settled on my brown with some highlights because I love it the most, not that any of you care but now you know!!

I’ve also made more important life changes like leaving jobs and people that didn’t fit in my grand scheme of things. It was always hard and always terrifying and usually involved tears but I knew that if things didn’t change I would go crazy and we all know I am crazy enough as it is.

The big changes take big balls but I can promise absolutely anyone that if you want to change something then you should. Changing things for yourself takes selfishness but in this aspect it 100% acceptable.

You can’t work 9-9 three times a week and be absolutely miserable every morning you wake up. Change your job.

You can’t be completely unhappy in a relationship just for the sake of being in one. Change your relationship status, change your view on relationships, and change who you spend your time with.

You don’t have to be disappointed when you look in the mirror. Change what you do and what you eat.

You can change where you live so you don’t spend 8 months out of every year in a jacket and shoveling snow.

So go comb through your life and change something you can’t stand. Most of the time change can be exactly what you need. Sometimes it can completely change your life (positively and negatively). And in a very slim category lies the change we fear but is so slim we can’t worry about it.

All in all change can be the most rewarding part of everyone’s life if they allow themselves to see it that way.

As I finish typing this I realize that my fear of things changing is completely overtaken by the fact that everything amazing in my life right now is because of a change I made or happened. I’m gonna try to not fear the change that is coming because we all know it all happens for a reason.

So maybe we should all change some things. (Don’t change what you do in your free time though and keep reading this blog, k thanks!!)

I leave you with one of my most favoritest (I know it’s not a word) quotes:

“Everything you ever wanted is one step outside of your comfort zone

  2. I actually went to high school with your boyfriend and found your blog on his Facebook back a few months ago and have been following your post- they are really great. My company has a blog and one thing we do is at the end of each post we give three topics and kinda let the readers tell us what they want to hear about next week, it’s a little different because we are a finance company so it’s boring but just a thought maybe you can use that idea. I’m sorry if that’s forward I think your posts are awesome just giving an idea !
